CASART - 34th Activation

INLET SEARCH & RECOVERY
Hamilton County, NY, 3/30/11

CASART was activated for winter ready searchers by NYFEDSAR to search for Kerry Young, a 44 year old female hiker, described as white, 5'7" tall, 115 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
Circumstances: She was last seen on Friday 3/25/11 and left facebook posts and emails that indicated she was going for a hike. On Monday her mother and employer reported her missing. She frequented the Adirondacks and her car was found on Campground Rd. near Limekiln Lake by a trapper. Federation searchers were called in for Wed. 3/30/11 search
CASART members responding on Wed. 3/30/11, CB, Bruce Knudsen, CB, Roy Reehil, Carl Pflanz, Doug Pirnie, Mike Majdek, Tom Grenier, Amanda Miller.
The members were divided into two type 3 teams crew bossed by Rangers for all day assignments. Terrain was hilly open hardwoods with 1 -2 feet of crusted snow that was able to be traversed without snowshoes. Weather was sunny with temps in the 30s.
Ms. Young’s remains were found at about 2pm by Rangers. Cause of death is as yet undetermined.
