The Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team, Inc. (CASART) is a not-for-profit IRS 501c3 Corporation.

Our mission is to provide a well-trained and disciplined search and rescue team to assist New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers in search and rescue operations.

The primary area that we cover includes Herkimer County, most of Hamilton County, southern St. Lawrence County and Oneida County, but we will respond as needed to any emergency throughout the Northeast.

Team Composition and Equipment:

Skills 54 members, 35 members DEC Certified in Basic Wildland Search. 7 DEC Crew Bosses. Capable of Type I, II, and III searches and Administrative ICP duties. Winter Capable
Equipment Trailer for field ICP, 8 Color GPS units with New York State Topo Maps, portable generator, laptop computer with printer, basket litter, backboard. 6 frame packs and rigging for downhill belay.
Radios 12 VHF High band portables w/ chest packs and base radio.
Medical 5 EMT-B/D, 1 AEMT, 2 WFR, 1 RN, 2 LPN. 1 MD - Serves as Medical Director
Maps Personal maps and MapTech Adirondack State Park Topographic Maps.

CASART is an all volunteer organization that survives entirely on membership dues and donations.
