The Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team, Inc. (CASART) is a not-for-profit IRS 501c3 Corporation.
Our mission is to provide a well-trained and disciplined search and rescue team to assist New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers in search and rescue operations.
The primary area that we cover includes Herkimer County, most of Hamilton County, southern St. Lawrence County and Oneida County, but we will respond as needed to any emergency throughout the Northeast.
Team Composition and Equipment:
CASART is divided into two Sub-Teams, Team 1 Adirondack, and Team 2, CNY, Central New York. Our Adirondack sub-team has 7 crew bosses, 28 field members and 13 administrative members. Our Central New York sub-team has 5 crew bosses, 24 field members and 12 administrative members.
CASART is an all volunteer organization that survives entirely on membership dues and donations. If you would like to help us in our mission by joining the team or by making a tax deductible donation visit our membership page or our donations page for more information. You don't need any training to help out either. We have many levels of membership and if you want to help out there is a probably a place for you on our team. Please contact us to learn more.
