About CASART

The Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team, Inc. (CASART) is a not-for-profit IRS 501c3 Corporation.

Our mission is to provide a well-trained and disciplined search and rescue team to assist New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers in search and rescue operations.

The primary area that we cover includes Herkimer County, most of Hamilton County and southern St. Lawrence County, but we will respond as needed to any emergency throughout the Northeast.

Team Composition and Equipment:

Skills 60 members DEC Certified in Basic Wildland Search. 13 DEC Crew Bosses. 5 NYS Licensed Guides. Capable of Type I, II, and III searches and Administrative ICP duties. Winter Capable.
Equipment Trailer for field ICP, 6 GPS units, portable generator, laptop computer with printer.
Radios Six VHF High band portables and base radio.
Medical 5 EMT-B/D, 1 AEMT, 2 WFR, 1 RN, 2 LPN.
Maps Personal maps and MapTech® Adirondack State Park Topgraphic Maps.

CASART is an all volunteer organization that survives entirely on membership dues and donations.
